Geneva Wine Tasting Weekend

This past weekend was spent with friends and family members at Geneva on the Lake in the Ohio wine country. The weekend started on Sat with an overnight stay at The Lodge at Geneva on the Lake.  The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake offers breathtaking views of Lake Erie.  It is located right on the lake shore.  Unfortunately, this past Saturday the temperature nose dived and the Lake had whitecaps.  So the breathtaking views were from your hotel room.
The town of Geneva was celebrating their annual Grape-fest.  We went to the "wine tasting extravaganza" at the Community Center and enjoyed wine, music and people watching!

Ligonier Country Club was the setting for the Twenty Fifth Anniversary Celebration of Thomas J Rennie, CPA.

Wine, Food and Friends Gathering

Wednesday evening the Rosary Altar Society of St Benedict Parish held a Wine and Cheese Socal for the Women of the parish.  The evening got off to rough start due to a brief but active thunderstorm that caused a widespread power outage to the area.  In the photo, the bell tower of  the church lost some siding but bad weather and no power didn't stop the gathering of food and friends.

As evening drew to a close, the power returned and Tim R told a few of his jokes to entertain the ladies as well as to distribute door prizes.

An evening at Wheeling Island

We spent a fun Friday evening and also an overnight at Wheeling Island. 

Tim started out strong playing $2 craps  and then went bust.  He did OK at the slots and then rallied.  He returned to the tables and came back a strong winner due to a couple of young shooters.

Diana fared the same.  Was hot on her favorite penny Zeus machine then fizzled.  Rallied with Tim on the $1 Wheel with a triple diamond to pull in $90. (payed homage to Aunt Mary and shared the winnings)  Had to visit Zeus on the way out and picked up $40.

Despite all the winnings we did make our "contribution" to wheeling Island and Tim did was a little over served.

A Meeting of Alums at St Vincent Gallery

On Thursday evening Tim met his St Vincent classmates (Class of 1972) at the St Vincent Gallery. Classmate and sculptor,Guy Bellaver was in town for opening night of his show...The Creative Thread.

Friday at Greendance Winery

 On Friday after work, we drove to the Greendance Winery

to enjoy the crisp, fall air and just plain relax with a bottle of wine.
The winery is only a 20 min drive from our home.

 The winery has a lot of floral displays and a butterfly garden.

 

They also sale great snacks to have while you savor  your wine.

Good to the last drop.

 Tim is picking an apple form the forbidden tree.  (just kidding)

 

Dinning at the Grand Concourse

On Saturday, August 28 we had dinner with our friends at the Grand Concourse.  Located in the historic Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad Station.  We were seated in the River Room and had  a great view of the river and downtown Pittsburgh.
