Spring Activities

Easter visit to Dallas
The week before Easter Sunday; Christine, Evelyn and I traveled to Dallas to visit our southern family.  On Palm Sunday we attended our first Craw fish boil at Grammy's house.  Google explains: Crayfish – also called crawfish or crawdads are freshwater crustaceans resembling small lobstersNot sure what we called them.  The crayfish come in a large bag.  They are alive, but since they are kept refrigerated they are not moving at all. Once bathed in freshwater, they perk up and you have to handle with care.
  Large cooler is the "bathtub".

Carlton get the pots fired up.

Carlton carefully removes the boiled craw fish.  He  added lemons, seasonings, potatoes and corn on the cob to the mixture.  Looks yummy.

Table is a set up in the garage ready for craw fish feasting.

Meanwhile, Grammy is in the kitchen, frying perogies.

Uncle Butch had transported mega dozens of perogies in his special dry ice packed cooler for the occasion.

Kitchen table loaded with goodies.

more treats.

I tried my first craw fish and decided I liked them and ate a few.  They do taste like tiny lobsters.

It was a chilly day in Texas. So we had to use the electric "heat lamp" in the garage.

...and everyone digs in!

Evelyn passes on the craw fish and sticks with baby food.

After dinner Uncle Butch gets the Easter egg hunt started.  He brought special baskets for the adults to collect their Easter treats.

Carlton tries to steal one of the treats from my basket.

The little girls enjoyed the indoor "egg hunt".

Aunt Sue brought homemade Easter treats for everyone.

Before Easter dinner Grace opens eggs she found at the backyard patio egg hunt.

Tommy sorts his jellybeans.

The following week, Grace and Tommy try their hand at planting flowers.

The highlight of the planting was watering and watering and watering the flowers.
